Tokyo stocks open lower on ex-dividend unloading

TOKYO, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday as investors sold their holdings after securing the right to receive fiscal 2019 first-half dividends the previous day.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 120.97 points, or 0.55 percent, from Thursday to 21,927.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, was down 14.05 points, or 0.87 percent, at 1,609.22.

Electric power and gas, as well as bank and consumer credit issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
