Tokyo stocks open lower on Wall Street's weak overnight lead

TOKYO, May 21 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday as investor sentiment was dampened following a weak lead from Wall Street overnight.

In the opening minutes after the morning bell, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 108.81 points, or 0.51 percent, from Monday to 21,192.92.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 9.03 points, or 0.58 percent, at 1,545.89.

Electric appliance, marine transportation and mining-linked issues comprised early notable decliners.
