Tokyo stocks open lower tracking losses on Wall Street overnight

TOKYO, May 7 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks opened lower on Tuesday tracking losses on Wall Street overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 230.87 points, or 1.04 percent, from April 26 to 22,027.86.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 13.36 points, or 0.83 percent, at 1,604.57.

Oil and coal product, mining and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.

Markets here were closed for 10 days through Monday for the Golden Week string of national holidays.
