Tokyo stocks retreat in morning ahead of Fed policy meeting outcome

TOKYO, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Wednesday morning, following weak leads from European and U.S. shares over night, with investors reluctant to make bold moves ahead of the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve's policy meeting later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 57.28 points, or 0.24 percent, from Tuesday to 23,352.91.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.10 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,713.67.

Marine transportation, bank and securities house-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
