Tokyo stocks retreat in morning on U.S.-Canada trade talks concern

TOKYO, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Monday morning as investors grew concerned about the outcome of the free trade talk between the United States and Canada.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 114.02 points, or 0.50 percent, from Friday to 22,751.13.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 10.97 points, or 0.63 percent, to 1,724.38.

Real estate, nonferrous metal and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised notable decliners by the morning break.
