Tokyo stocks rise in morning on back of US tech shares' advance

TOKYO, July 25 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks opened higher on Thursday morning, after technology issues advancing overnight on Wall Street gave their counterparts here a boost.

In the opening minutes after the morning bell, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 68.08 points, or 0.31 percent, from Wednesday to 21,777.65.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.13 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1,577.22.

Metal product, chemical, and information and communication-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in early play.
