TOKYO, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday reported that both its global production and international sales increased in October from a year earlier, owing to eased downside effects related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Toyota said its global output and sales figures topped last year's for a third straight month, with production in October reaching 771,382 units, while sales hit 832,373 vehicles.
The maker of the popular Prius hybrid and Corolla sedan models said that production in Japan rose 33.7 percent from a year earlier to 203,149 vehicles, while 568,233 units were produced overseas, marking a 19.5 percent increase.
Toyota's output in China and that in North America increased 18.4 percent and 16.2 percent, respectively, the automaker said.
Overall domestic sales jumped 34.3 percent, while overseas sales were up 21.2 percent, Toyota said, with both overseas sales and output reaching record highs for October.
Japan's top automaker said however that owing to a worldwide chip crunch it has lowered its global production target from 9.7 million to 9.2 million vehicles for fiscal 2022.
