US dollar slips as euro, sterling rise

NEW YORK, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar retreated in late trading on Wednesday amid strength in the euro and the British pound.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.22 percent at 92.7613.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1799 U.S. dollars from 1.1782 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.3715 dollars from 1.3626 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.7357 U.S. dollar from 0.7330 dollar.
