NEW YORK, June 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, bolstered by solid gains in energy shares.

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 332.27 points, or 1.27 percent, to 26,412.37. The S&P 500 increased 35.13 points, or 1.13 percent, to 3,150.47. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 97.11 points, or 0.98 percent, to 10.040.16.

Shares of U.S. oil giants Exxon Mobil and Chevron both rose about 2 percent in morning trading, among the best performers in the 30-stock average.

All the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors rallied, with energy up more than 2 percent, outpacing the rest.

U.S. equities closed mixed in volatile trading on Thursday with the Dow losing 40 points after data showed nearly 1.51 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week, exceeding market consensus. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq eked out small gains.
