Uzbekistan's economy grows 5.7 pct in 2022

TASHKENT, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) increased 5.7 percent in 2022 compared with 2021, according to the latest data released by the state committee on statistics on Thursday.

According to the committee, Uzbekistan's GDP reached 888.34 trillion soums (around 79 billion U.S. dollars) in 2022.

During his annual address to the parliament and the nation on Dec. 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said the Central Asian country's GDP volume hit a record high in 2022.

In 2018, the country's GDP stood at 52 billion dollars, said the president.
