Xinjiang reports robust online retail sales in 2020

URUMQI, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported robust online retail sales in 2020 despite downward consumption pressure, official data showed on Wednesday.

Enterprises in Xinjiang leveraged e-commerce platforms to promote online sales, which reached 30.92 billion yuan (about 4.77 billion US dollars) last year, up 27.6 percent year on year, according to a press conference.

Online retail sales of physical goods climbed 35.8 percent year on year to 21.3 billion yuan in 2020.

The internet industry and related services saw strong revenue growth in the first 11 months of 2020, up nearly 50 percent year on year. The revenues of online life services such as online food delivery soared over 99 percent year on year during the period, official data shows.
