Beijing on Thursday slammed a statement by G7 foreign ministers and the EU high representative on US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

It reminded her of the allied forces that invaded China 100 years ago, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Hua Chunying at a routine press briefing in Beijing.

"G7 foreign ministers need to wake up from the dream of Eight-Power Allied Forces," Hua said. "Today's China is not a lamb like 100 years ago."

She continued: "Today's world is no longer a world where imperialist powers can show off their force and do whatever they want on the land of China and today's China is no longer the old China that was bullied and slaughtered more than 100 years ago.”

Hua said she wanted to remind G7 foreign ministers that "it is the third decade of the 21st century and if their brains are still stuck more than 100 years ago, there will be problems."
