The“Walking Machine” is sweeping across China since it helps users achieve high scores on WeChat sports without moving a muscle.

Some of the retailers on Taobao, China’s top online shopping website, sell more than 25,000 machines, with total sales of 150,000 units since last year.

Users don’t have to exert any physical activity.  All they have to do is put their phone on the small gadget, which would automatically move and increase the number of steps on the mobile app. The machine can make about 6,000 to 7,000 steps per hour.

By using it, consumers can score high on WeChat sports. To obtain the corresponding benefits, many people use the walking machine to make up for their lack of exercise.

Experts said that the consumption behavior is understandable. However, they also advised consumers not to indulge in the walking machine and ignore real exercise machines.
