10,171 people arrested for social unrest in Hong Kong since June 2019

HONG KONG, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong police said Friday that a total of 10,171 people were arrested between June 9, 2019 and Nov. 30, 2020 for their involvement in social unrest, among whom, 2,389 were prosecuted.
The police said on social media that of all the people prosecuted, 695 were charged with rioting, 414 with illegal assembly, and 356 with criminal damage. Of the 826 people who have completed judicial proceedings, 679 have to bear legal consequences.
Besides, 40 people were arrested for acts and activities endangering national security from the end of June this year when the national security law took effect in Hong Kong.
