12 councilors disqualified as HKSAR oath-taking law takes effect

Twelve district councilors were disqualified as a law that requires Hong Kong's public officers to take an oath to uphold the Basic Law and bear allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) was published and took effect on Friday, according to a statement by the HKSAR government.
