BEIJING, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 143 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland Friday, the National Health Commission said in a daily report Saturday.

There were 1,711 confirmed cases still being treated, including 78 in severe conditions, said the report.

As of Friday, the Chinese mainland had reported a total of 89,430 confirmed COVID-19 cases, among whom 83,083 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery and 4,636 died of the disease.
