BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- The fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will be held in October in Beijing, according to a decision made at a CPC Central Committee Political Bureau meeting on Friday.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.

At the fourth plenary session, the CPC Central Committee will hear a report from the Political Bureau on its work, and discuss important issues concerning how to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and make progress in modernizing China's system and capacity for governance, according to a statement issued after the meeting.

Friday's meeting reviewed three Party regulations about how the Party should formulate and review its internal regulations and clarify the responsibilities for their implementation, the statement said.

The meeting noted that since the 18th CPC National Congress, the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics has been further improved and notable progress has been made in modernizing the country's system and capacity for governance, which guaranteed political stability, economic growth, flourishing culture, ethnic solidarity, social stability and unification of the country.

The meeting stressed that the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the country's system of governance will ensure the continuous progress of the country and the realization of China's two centenary goals of rejuvenation.

The meeting required greater efforts in sticking to and improving the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics as well as strengthening China's system and capacity for governance.

The revision and formulation of related Party regulations represent the latest achievement in exercising strict governance over the Party since the 18th CPC National Congress, the statement said.

It stressed that all Party organizations and officials must fulfill their political responsibility to observe the regulations.
