1st China International Import Expo concludes with $57.8 billion inked in deals

The cumulative intended deals reached at the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) valued at $57.83 billion, announced Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.

The six-day trade event that concluded Saturday in Shanghai was fruitful. More than 570 new products, technologies or services globally or domestically developed were launched, according to preliminary statistics, Sun said at a press briefing held on Saturday.

A total of 3,617 enterprises from 151 countries and regions have participated in the expo. The fair also attracted more than 3,600 overseas purchasers from 72 countries and regions, Sun noted.

Among the total deals, $16.46 billion came from the intelligent and high-end equipment exhibition area, $4.33 billion from the consumer electronics and home appliances exhibition area, $11.99 billion from the automobile exhibition area, and $3.37 billion from the clothing apparel and consumer goods exhibition area.

The food and agricultural products exhibition area, the medical device and medical care exhibition area and the service trade exhibition area accounted for $12.68 billion, $5.76 billion and $3.24 billion respectively.

In addition, the intended deals inked with the countries along the “Belt and Road” were $4.72 billion in transaction value, Sun said.
