Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Red Cross Society of China has participated in prevention and control work, mobilizing more than 390,000 volunteers to delve into communities to help with health monitoring, household inspections, and goods delivery for people in quarantine. Providing help for over 7.5 million people for 71 million hours, this was a volunteer service of the largest scale in the organization’s history.

When the pandemic ravaged China, the Red Cross Society of China dispatched a working group to guide and help its branch in Hubei, Wuhan on COVID-19 response. A volunteer team was immediately formed to conduct sanitation and disinfection in local medical institutions, which covered 4.7 million square meters. A team of experts also volunteered to provide psychological therapy and consultation for medical workers at the frontline, forging an impregnable buttress against the pandemic.
