A magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck Menyuan Hui Autonomous County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in northwest China's Qinghai Province at 3:23 pm on Friday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 37.69 degrees north latitude and 101.59 degrees east longitude.

The quake struck at a depth of 9 kilometers, according to the network.
