CHENGDU, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Heavy rainfall battered Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Tuesday, leaving four people dead, said local authorities.

A total of 12,700 people from 11 counties and townships in the prefecture were affected, according to the provincial emergency management department.

At least four people were dead and 11 were reported missing in Wenchuan County after multiple mudslides happened following heavy rainfall. Seven people were missing and 60 were trapped in Wolong special administrative zone in the county.

As of 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, more than 30,000 residents and tourists had been evacuated in Wenchuan County. The evacuation of over 13,000 tourists in the county is still underway.

The downpour has also cut off water supplies, power and communications in Lixian County and Maoxian County, while some roads have been blocked.

More than 200 rescue workers have been sent to the affected areas.
