A 5.1- magnitude earthquake strikes Shufu County, Kashgar Prefecture in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 12:32 pm Saturday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
No casualties have yet been reported.

The earthquake was immediately followed by a 3.1-magnitude quake at a depth of 12 km.

The quake was felt in Kashgar and nearby counties. Local authorities have activated an emergency response and dispatched working teams to the epicenter area.

Six villages are within 5 km of the epicenter and two townships are within 20 km.
