6.9-magnitude quake strikes off Japan's Ogasawara Islands: JMA

TOKYO, April 18 (Xinhua) - An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 on Saturday struck off west coast of Japan's Ogasawara Islands, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The temblor occurred at 5:26 p.m. local time, with its epicenter at a latitude of 27.2 degrees north and a longitude of 140.7 degrees east, and at depth of 490 km.
The quake logged 4 in some parts of Ogasawara Islands on the Japanese seismic intensity scale which peaks at 7.
So far no tsunami warning has been issued.
