North China's Tianjin reported that a 6-year-old girl, the daughter of a COVID-19 patient in the city, was found to have been infected on Saturday after being isolated for 15 days. Her throat swab, sputum and stool samples had been tested for nucleic acid seven times since November 20, all of which were negative.
The 6-year-old girl, surnamed Yang, lives in Kanhaixuan Community in Tianjin's Dongjiang Port District. Her grandfather, grandmother and father were all confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on November 19.
Since November 20, the girl has been quarantined with her mother at a centralized medical observation point in Binhai New Area. The girl first tested positive for IgM and IgG serum antibodies on Friday. After further checks, a CT examination revealed mild inflammatory lesions in the upper lobe of her left lung on Saturday.
According to the Tianjin Municipal Health Commission, the girl attends a kindergarten in Binhai New Area. The kindergarten has been sealed off since November 21. The nucleic acid test results of 181 related children, parents and teachers all came back negative.
