Wang Zelin, a 77-year-old professor from Henan Agricultural University in Central China's Henan Province, recently made an 82 million yuan ($11.7 million) donation to his university for research.

As an expert in poultry farming, Wang's donation came from his life-long savings, largely from the commercialization of his scientific and research findings.

Despite his generous donation, Wang lives a very simple life, wearing plain and old clothes and always taking public transportation.

"Scientific research must have successors, and the money will only be valuable if it is used where it is needed most," Wang said.
