9 dead, 10 injured after tremor rattles coal mine in Northeast China

Nine miners were killed and ten others injured in a coal mine tremor in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province, local authorities announced on Sunday. 

A 2.3 degree tremor struck Jilin Longjiabao Mining Company in Jiutai at 8 pm Sunday night. 

Local officials dispatched search and rescue units to the scene as miners working onsite escaped during the rumbling. 

Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
