Yang Siyun, a 90-year-old lady living in Laifeng County in Enshi City of central China's Hubei Province, realized her lifetime wish to take a train with the accompaniment of her family on October 20.
Yang revealed her regret during an interview, "I have never been to Enshi, nor Hunan, or anywhere."
Deng Hongda, a local police officer, fortuitously knew of Yang's wish after his visits. "We have trains in the mountain areas now, she told me that she has never taken a train once in her life, and now she's in her 90s and wants to go outside and see the world. To tell the truth, I feel really sorry for her."
Deng decided to help her realize her dream and helped her get her ID card and told her family about her wish.
Liang Gaochuang, Yang's grandson, made his decision and bought train tickets to take his grandma to see the outside world. After hearing Yang's story, the local government helped to arrange a special train trip to Longshan County in southern China's Hunan Province.
Yang was so excited and changed her outfits several times before the trip. "I need to show my respect to this precious trip," she said.
"She was so happy when I walked her to the train. She had a big childlike smile on her face when she saw that train coming towards her," Deng said.
On the train, Yang seemed very thrilled and kept staring at the moving views through the window.
