According to the data released by the organizers of Beijing 2022, 27,000 volunteers will be needed for the Olympics and 12,000 for the Paralympics. Most of the Paralympic volunteers will be selected and maintained from those of the Olympics.
At Thursday's launching ceremony, Beijing 2022 will open the online system for the global recruitment program for Games-time volunteers and the logo, video, and song of its volunteer program. An invitation will also be sent to welcome the world to be volunteers of the Games.
The Games-time volunteers are expected to be sourced mainly from domestic college and high school students, overseas Chinese, international volunteers, and the volunteers selected at the provincial level plus Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
The entire process of a global recruitment program for Games-time volunteers will last one and a half years and will be closed on June 30, 2021.
Games-time volunteers will provide services in three competition zones of Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou, as well as other venues and facilities.
Multiple ways of recruitment will be available to the public, including group and individual, open and targeted, online and offline. Tests, selection and background checks will be conducted before recruitment and assignment.
The Organizing Committee also encourages athletes specialized in winter sports to apply for positions of professional volunteers.
