The European Union's wrong decision on issuing unilateral sanctions on China interfered with China's internal affairs and severely harmed the China-EU relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Friday.

Zhao made the remarks in response to the EU's decision to freeze the investment agreement with China until Beijing lifts sanctions on EU individuals.
China's sanctions were a necessary response to the malicious lies on issues related to Xinjiang, Zhao said.
China urges the EU to manage differences through dialogues and return to the right track of cooperation.
