Next year’s International Horticultural Exhibition in Beijing is a living example of the environmentally friendly lifestyle that the capital is striving to implement.
Themed as “Live Green, Live Better,” the exhibition, abbreviated as Beijing Expo 2019, is located in southwest Yanqing district, 10 kilometers away from the Great Wall and Hai Tuo Mountain.
Its core area covers 503 hectares and its village area is about 58 hectares.
The exhibition will open next April 29 and run through October 7.

The exhibition area originally had 50,000 trees, and 50,000 trees and 130,000 shrubs have been added.

Tian Tian Mountain is the highest point in the exhibition, with a total area of 12.22 hectares and a height of 25 meters. Its theme is “returning to nature” and revolves around the ideas of human beings returning to nature, and gardens and nature flowing back into human’s daily environment.

Construction on the expo site is ongoing. The main structures of the China Pavilion and International Pavilion are already enclosed. Workers are installing the electricity and interior structures. The local government has finished building most of the infrastructure, including roads and the power grid. The water system is almost in place. Most of the public landscaping has been finished, and 85 percent of the garden areas have been planted.

In the China Garden, the preparation work for China’s provinces, regions and cities participating the exhibition continues, and the construction of the exhibition garden has begun to take shape. Up to now, 20 participants have started construction work.

The international pavilion is close to the World Garden, occupying an area of 3.63 hectares and with a overall area of 22,000 square meters. At present, 97 countries including the UK and Russia and international organizations have confirmed they will attend the event.
