BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Forum for Symphonic Music 2019, hosted by the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA), opened Tuesday.

Themed "Integration and Development," the event attracted close to 200 guests from orchestras, art colleges and other institutions in 14 countries and regions to discuss opportunities and challenges of symphonic music.

"The forum has drawn wide attention and an active response from the global symphonic music community, primarily because carrying forward fine cultural treasure is our common mission and mutual learning is the common aspiration of domestic and foreign counterparts," said Wang Ning, president of the NCPA, when addressing the opening ceremony.

On Wednesday, guests to the forum will have discussions on "symphonic music and city," "audience development and art education," "symphonic music and technology," and "the development of orchestras and new works."

The forum will conclude on Thursday.
