Beijing will strengthen restrictions and introduce measures for epidemic prevention and control, including tightening personnel flow management and controlling the passenger capacity of public transportation, local authorities said on Tuesday.

The latest requirement was announced following the 101st meeting of the city's COVID-19 prevention and control leadership group.

Beijing will tighten personnel flow management in parks, scenic spots and other tourist places in all districts and control the passenger capacity of buses and subways.

All districts in Beijing should identify and control the high-risk groups, giving priority of nucleic acid tests to people who traveled to medium and high-risk areas.

The capital city still faces a severe epidemic prevention and control situation in fending off the risks brought by imported cases and the resurgence of sporadic local cases. Any situation needs to be reported promptly.

Loopholes in epidemic prevention in rural areas, schools, kindergartens and extracurricular training centers should be plugged.

Wearing a mask, maintaining social distance, keeping good personal hygiene, minimize gatherings and enhancing public awareness are all important measures to prevent and control the epidemic.

Beijing will accelerate the mass vaccination against COVID-19. The inoculation of key groups will be completed before the Spring Festival, which falls on Feb. 12 this year, local authorities said earlier this month.
