Line 22 of the Beijing metro is expected to open in 2025, linking the city of Langfang, North China's Hebei Province, with Beijing, the economic heavyweight in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

This is the first inter-city subway line linking the cities' separate urban subway systems and transcending administrative boundaries.

The new transit line will significantly reduce travel time. It will take just 9 minutes to travel from Sanhe, Xianghe County and Dachang Hui Autonomous County in Langfang, North China's Hebei Province, to Beijing's Tongzhou sub-center, and only 32 minutes to the Dongdaqiao station in Beijing's Central Business District.

With 12 transfer stations, this inter-city metro extending 81.2 kilometers can connect with another 12 metro lines, 2 intercity railways and 2 suburban railways, which will facilitate the integrated development of the rail infrastructure in this region.

The launch of this expanded metro line will pave the way for further coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the transfer of Beijing's non-essential capital city functions.
