BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Over 30 hospitals in Beijing have installed face recognition systems to identify registration scalpers, the municipal health authorities said.

The system noticed over 2,100 "suspected scalpers" who frequently come to make appointments at registration desks and sell the appointments to patients in need.

Over 900 such scalpers were detained last year during a citywide crackdown campaign. The municipal health commission has cooperated with the city's police to further identify suspected scalpers, and now an alarm will be triggered once scalpers enter hospitals.

In the meantime, authorities have also strengthened efforts to prevent any cheating behaviors on registration apps, cutting off the connection between commercial apps and hospital registration platforms.
