Beijing will strengthen its COVID-19 control and prevention measures in schools to ensure campus safety, the municipal government said on Wednesday.

The capital's Party chief Cai Qi held an epidemic control and prevention meeting on Wednesday morning, saying authorities should accelerate investigations into the source of the virus and enlarge the scale of the population for nucleic acid testing.

In particular, the city will strengthen measures on campuses to ensure students' safety. All examinations and tests which are not absolutely necessary should be canceled or postponed.

The city will also tighten management of senior tour groups to reduce infection risks.
