Beijing said on Saturday it received over 280,000 applications for new energy vehicles in May and new applicants may have to wait at least another five years to get approved.

As of Friday, 289,377 people applied for new energy vehicles, and 7,330 enterprises applied for 10,626 new energy vehicles.

Based on current policies, all applications for individual new energy vehicles have run out. Over 280,000 applicants are waiting for new qualifications.

A rough estimate suggests that new applicants must wait at least five years, that is, until 2024 before they can obtain a qualification.
