China slammed the United States on Friday for imposing unilateral sanctions on a Chinese firm for allegedly funding the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"China has been fully and strictly implementing the United Nations' resolutions on the DPRK. We firmly oppose other countries imposing unilateral sanctions on Chinese individuals or companies based on their domestic laws," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said at a regular press briefing.

The US on Thursday imposed sanctions on China-based Yanbian Silverstar Network Technology Co., Ltd., its chief executive, and a Russian subsidiary, accusing them of moving illicit funding to the DPRK in violation of US sanctions.

"China has lodged stern representations with the US on this," Geng added. "We urge the US side to stop its wrong behavior."
