Beijing reports 9 imported COVID-19 cases

BEIJING, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Beijing reported a total of nine newly confirmed cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from other countries Monday, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission said Tuesday morning.

The nine imported cases included six from Spain, one from the United States and two from the United Kingdom. That brings the total of imported cases in the city to 40 by Monday.

Beijing also reported seven newly-added suspected cases Monday, three from the United Kingdom, one from the United States, one from France, one from the Netherlands and one from Egypt. A total of 14 people in close contact with the suspected cases were screened.

There were no new reports of indigenous COVID-19 cases in Beijing Monday.

As of Monday, Beijing had reported a total of 455 local confirmed cases. Of the total, 368 have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
