Beijing to make greater effort drawing global talent

Beijing will strengthen efforts to attract leading professionals from across the world in 2019, according to a work report delivered by Mayor Chen Jining on Monday.

In 2018, Beijing implemented dozens of new measures to further draw foreigners to work in the capital city, such as offering housing subsidies and providing permanent residency for 618 top-caliber experts.

Beijing would strive to build a hub of international talent in 2019 by broadening the channels for recruitment to a global scale, attracting a group of strategic scientific and technological talents, and promoting a community mainly for globally qualified professionals, said Chen at the second session of the 15th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.

According to the report, Beijing will also try attract world-leading experts to help realize breakthroughs in core technologies and industries.
