So far three districts in Beijing, Dongcheng, Xicheng and Tongzhou, have taken the lead in the electronic parking payment system on Jan 1 this year. People can pay parking fees by both electronic payment and cash in the three districts, said Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission and the Beijing Parking Management Center.

Electronic payment can be made through an official app or Alipay’s urban service, while cash payment means to pay the cash directly in the convenience service lobbies in Dongcheng and Xicheng districts. The authority is also finding ways for parking payment service to be in banks in the future.

According to reports, the current roadside electronic parking toll system in Beijing has been connected to the city’s traffic control system, which messages parking tickets to people in real time. In the future, one might run the risk of a negative mark on their personal credit if they don’t pay the parking ticket.
