The Belt and Road initiative achieved great results in 2020, said Qian Keming, Vice Minister of Commerce at the State Council Information Office’s special press conference on “Accelerating High-quality Business Development and Building a New Development Pattern” on Wednesday.
Facing the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, China and relevant countries jointly promoted Belt and Road cooperation and made new achievements, he said.

China’s annual trade volume in goods with Belt and Road countries was $1.35 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 0.7 percent. Non-financial direct investment in these countries amounted to $17.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.3 percent, according to the ministry.
Positive progress was made in projects including the China-Laos Railway, Jakarta-Bandung Railway and China-Belarus Industrial Park, Qian said.
