BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The first 50 books of a series have been published to introduce prominent historical figures to young people as role models and promote patriotism among them.

The books were divided into four categories about Chinese pioneers, martyrs, masters and legendary figures, according to a press release from the publishers earlier this week.

Young readers will be able to learn the deeds and thoughts of these incredible people and foster their sense of responsibility to carry on the mission of national rejuvenation, the statement said.

The books were compiled and published by several publishers including Zhonghua Book Company and Xuexi Publishing House.
