In the first half of this year, China's total yield of summer grain reached 14.174 million tons, 2.93 million tons more than the previous year, or 2.1 percent more than the previous year, which is the same as the highest year in Chinese modern history (2017).
The yield per mu of summer grain reached 359 kilograms in 2019, up 12 kilograms, or 3.5 percent, from the previous year.
The agricultural planting structure continues to improve, and the acreage sown for cotton and soybeans increased. The output of meat, eggs, milk, fruits and vegetables also remains high and steady.
According to the data, in the first half of the year, beef cattle output increased by 390,000 heads, an increase of 70,000 tons, and milk output increased by 220,000 tons.
China produced 134 million sheep, up 1.6 percent, and produced 2.02 million tons of mutton, an increase of 30,000 tons.
Poultry production increased by 305 million birds, an increase of 500,000 tons, and egg production reached 530,000 tons over the same period last year.
