BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- A childcare campaign aimed at promoting safety and protection of children was launched in Beijing on Thursday.

The event was co-sponsored by 11 departments including the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), Ministry of Civil Affairs and Ministry of Education. ACWF President Shen Yueyue attended the online opening ceremony.

Several activities were initiated to offer care and protection for kids including left-behind children in rural areas whose parents migrate to cities for better job opportunities.

According to the organizers, volunteer services will be rendered both online and offline across the country.
