China calls for positive outcomes to break the US-DPRK deadlock

China said on Thursday the US and DPRK should resume dialogue and strive for positive outcomes in nuclear.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the comments at a press conference.

According to media reports, DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Un declared that his country will continue its nuclear program and soon reveal a “new strategic weapon” in face of the ongoing sanctions from the US.

"Promoting a political solution to the Korean Peninsula issue is in the interests of both sides," Geng said. "Under current circumstances, any action that might accelerates tension or obstruct talks is not advised."

"We hope the US and DPRK can meet each other halfway to achieve positive results through dialogue," Geng said.
