China closely followed and watched a passing US warship through the Taiwan Strait on Thursday and urged the US to prudently handle Taiwan-related issues, said a spokesperson on Friday.

Taiwan is the most important and sensitive issue in bilateral ties, Geng Shuang, spokesman with Chinese Foreign Ministry, stressed and called on Washington to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three Sino-US joint communiques.
