The rice and flour packages from China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation were delivered to the Obai Primary School in Dukem town of Ethiopia's Oromia regional state.

“These food packages are so valuable for our teaching activities,” said headmaster Jebesar Gedfa. “Only with adequate food can our students perform better in their schoolwork and be less likely to drop out of school”.

“Chinese civil societies purchased these food packages, which fully demonstrate the friendship between these two countries,” said Huang Xiaocen, foundation office representative. “In the future, our foundation will continue to help Ethiopia to develop education, health care and clean energy.”

Fifth-grade student Hussein Edie said it was the third time he received assistance from China.

“We love and respect Chinese people,” Hussein said.

This activity is part of the Smiling Children School Feeding Program in Schools in Ethiopia and Sudan initiated by the foundation in 2015.

By the end of last year, the program has benefited 28,179 students.
