The relevant bill passed by the US legislator seriously violates the one-China principle and the provisions of the three China-US joint communiques, and grossly interferes in China's internal affairs, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular press conference Wednesday.

The House passed a non-binding resolution on Tuesday, encouraging official contacts between US and the island. The bill has not been passed by the Senate.

Geng said that the Chinese side resolutely opposes this and has already made stern representations with the US.

“We urge the US to abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiques and prudently and properly handle issues related to Taiwan to avoid serious damage to China-US cooperation in key areas and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Geng said.
