China said the resignation of Boris Johnson is UK’s “internal affairs,” hoping the UK promote sustained and stable relations with China “no matter how the UK political situation changes.”
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said on Firday.
“We have seen reports of Prime Minister Johnson announcing his resignation as leader of the Conservative Party,” Zhao said, “This is an internal affair of the UK.”
“No matter how the UK political situation changes, we hope that the UK view the current situation with a long-term perspective and the big picture in mind, work with China in a similar spirit to promote the sustained and stable development of China-UK relations,” Zhao added.
