BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese authorities have issued a circular on strengthening the work on providing preferential treatment for military personnel, veterans and their families.

The preferential treatment covers areas including pension, medical care, housing, education and transportation, among others, said the circular.

The bigger and more contributions one makes to the national defense and army, the better and more preferential treatment one can enjoy, according to the circular.

The circular aims to enhance the social respect of entitled groups and promote soldiers and officers as respected professions within society.

The document was jointly issued by 20 departments including the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
